Like many, I waited around 6 months to get in with Troy. I can promise you, it was worth the wait! I had been taking lessons at the local music store but didn't feel like I was getting anywhere as a musician. Sure, I was learning songs but I felt like we were brushing over the fundamentals and building a foundation made of clay. I started looking for an instructor who was a cut above what I had. In Troy I found an inspiring teacher/mentor that was not just a "cut above". The difference was like night and day! Troy has taught me how to make the most of my practice time, all of the proper guitar techniques that I was missing out on, and a firm understanding of the theory I need for composition and communicating confidently with other musicians in any style. I feel like I have a friend in Troy who really cares about my progress and growth as a player. 4 years later and I'm still hungry for more! Like many of his other students, I'll never give up my spot. My band thanks Troy all of the time, too. Of course I have to put the work in but Troy is there to make sure my work and practice is efficient and productive. Thanks to Troy I now have a foundation built of stone!

It's my passion to learn, practice, and play guitar. I've also been performing in bands around Boston and Worcester for almost 30 years. Much of this time I've also appreciated Troy's teaching, mentorship, and guidance. Whether you're looking to improve your chops, learn a new style/technique, get your theory squared away, or even desire solid advice on gear (I'm admittedly a tone junkie), Troy provides exactly what you need every time. Based on his education, performance experience, and teaching prowess, no other instructor in Central Mass can offer as much as Troy does. Many thanks!

Troy is the "Teachers' Teacher"! If you know a great guitar instructor (or guitarist in general) around New England, then they have probably studied with Troy. He teaches the "right way" from the start and has repaired the technique and gaps in music theory knowledge not only for myself but for a lot of players I know who have studied with lessor "instructors" in the area. As a matter of fact, I recommended him to my former instructor at the local music store. I never realized what I was missing until I met Troy!

"I first met Troy as a teenager, a young hopeful new to the instrument with great aspirations of stardom and zero know-how or expertise. We started from scratch. As my fingers grew adjusted to the pain of guitar beginnings, Troy was welcoming and vigilant. Even as I continuously faltered and cursed, his patience never waned. He was always kind and courteous, with a mind geared towards patience and understanding. What was truly great was how he pushed me. Nothing was ever out of reach or impossible. If at first I did not know or could not do, we worked together until the music sang free and clear from the six strings. Slowly and steadily, Troy showed me the heavenly pleasures of music and how hard work yields success.
I left his instruction for many years but returned much later when I felt I had reached an impasse in my playing. It was during this time that I hit an ungovernable rough-patch in my personal life. My father was stricken ill by cancer and I watched as he and I both fell apart in our own individual ways. This is where Troy separates himself from the ordinary teacher. More than an instructor, he saw that I needed help and support and was there for me both as a friend and a colleague. Anyone who has or will ever work with Troy will testify that his heart is big as the sky and his love for music is conveyed in his lessons in a way that brings joy and happiness to all his students. Even when I became cold and distant, Troy stayed by my side and promised to be there.
After thirteen some-odd years of playing and countless hours of late night practice by lamplight, I have reached a level of ability on guitar that has transformed my life indelibly and it's all thanks to Troy. If you or your child are looking for a guitar teacher, regardless of your current ability, Troy is undoubtedly your man. He's a fantastic teacher but more importantly he is an amazing friend. I will forever be grateful that by random circumstance I happened to meet Troy and through him learned to share the great gift of music with the world."

"Learning to play the guitar can be intimidating, to say the least. When I decided to learn this instrument I knew that competent instruction was the key. After playing for some time and struggling with developing skills, Troy was recommended to me through a friend (player) that I highly respect. Within a very short time, Troy was able to identify my "problem areas" and quickly developed a program to improve my playing. His understanding of music and his teaching ability allow him to convey the ideas and information in a way that is easy for people to understand. Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate player, or an advanced guitarist, I would not hesitate to recommend Troy. His skills, knowledge, and friendly personality make him a great choice for lessons."

"Thanks so much, Troy Price! I began by teaching myself to play guitar but decided I needed a boost. Troy, you have opened my guitar playing to a level I never knew and ever could have taught myself. Although I have a long way to go, my gains have been incredible. I admire the way you see where I'm at in my playing and you can work with that to move me forward. I also admire the additional stuff like learning about tone and effects. Your advise on amp selection and introduction to Mojo Hand FX have satisfied me quite well. Without Troy Price music, I wouldn't be where I'm at now with tone, effects, and playing technique. I am honored to lead a congregation in worship to the most high King and able to do so with the knowledge Troy has given me."

"I had been playing guitar for 16 years (self taught) before I met Troy. I started taking lessons from him so I could progress as a musician and I couldn't be happier with the results. From the very first lesson, Troy was teaching me things that I literally could not wait to get home and practice. He makes learning fun, and he has a genuine passion for what he does. I look forward to learning alongside him for many years to come. He is a great mentor, and an even better person."

"I've always loved taking lessons with Troy because he's always managed to cater the lesson to my own particular musical interests and use my musical interests to convey theoretical and technical concepts for guitar and bass. He's given me tips on composing, tips on gear, and tips on what bands in my particular style of music I should get into. He's helped me craft my rig piece by piece to help me create my own sound and has always directed me towards fantastic vintage tones that I've always looked for in my playing. I always look forward to my lessons with Troy!"

"Anyone considering guitar lessons with Troy Price shouldn’t hesitate for a second. He’s a great guy, an incredible guitarist, an accomplished musician, and an amazing mentor and friend. I have come so far since starting lessons with him and have had a lot of fun. Without a doubt Troy is by far the best guitar teacher I've ever had and most likely the best to ever teach me."

"I bought the Mojo Hand Rook from Troy last winter. It sounds great with all of my guitars. It adds that extra boost while also adding the perfect amount of crunch and dirt. Combined with my amp, I can get countless tones. I started taking lessons from Troy two winters ago and its been great. I've gotten 200% better while also gaining a great friend. I give Troy Price Music seven out of five stars."

"I've been taking lessons from Troy for about 4 years now and I still learn something new every week. He knows how to present material in a variety of ways so that it is easy to understand and he can always answer any questions I might have. Not only is he a great teacher, but he's a great guy and I can tell he loves his job."

"Taking lessons with Troy is awesome. I always have a great time learning what he has to teach. I look forward to going to my lessons every week, too. Troy’s rates are also the best I have seen. I would recommend him to anybody i know. I recently bought the Mojo Hand FX One Ton Bee pedal from Troy. He did a great job of showing me the pedals I was interested in and the different tones and various sounds you can get from just one pedal! Although Troy is the only teacher I have had, I wouldn't want any other! He deserves 5 out of 5 stars all around for his teaching, playing, and how great he is at explaining music."

"Taking lessons from Troy Price for the past year and a half has reinforced my belief that one should always demand the best in your music teacher, or otherwise keep looking for a teacher who is the best. I found that in Troy. He has always been 100% ready for my lesson and is automatically tuned in to whatever I wanted to share in my lesson. Always pleasant and dedicated to my musical interest, Troy is well suited to the role of teacher. When you play well he is full of genuine praise yet he’s there to show the way when you stray off subject. He has a pleasant, engaging personality, a vast musical background that he shares openly and he is not a conceited musician. I am very grateful to have found him and look forward to incorporating more and more of his musical instruction in the years ahead. In addition, I love my Mojo Hand FX Analogue Filter 443 pedal that I picked up from Troy Price recently. It really rounds out my current pedal board configuration. I always keep a fire extinguisher close by now since my playing has really heated up with the addition of my 443 combined with Troy's ongoing excellent instruction. Thanks Troy and Mojo Hand FX!"

"Troy Price is an outstanding musician and teacher. I've been taking guitar lessons from him for many years and he is a very supportive and talented musician who worked with me from the very basics of guitar technique, learning how to read guitar sheet music, playing songs, improvising, and various styles. He lets the student decide what they would like to learn rather than go by a curriculum of sorts and he breaks down what ever your musical goals are into a few steps that you'll work at together in 30 minute weekly sessions. I highly recommend Troy Price Music not just for guitar lessons but for all of the music related services he offers."

"Half of my pedalboard is my first and (so far) only Mojo hand FX pedal, the Colossus. It's been and continues to be amazing; everything just sounds great through it. Thank you, Troy Price, for introducing me to the Mojo Hand FX family and for being an AWESOME teacher. My experience as a student of yours has been amazing. I’ve become a far more educated and confident musician and it's been a blast! And on top of that, I have this sweet fuzz pedal as a result. Looking forward to trying out more of them soon, too!"

"Troy’s personable and intuitive teaching has left me with zero regrets. I have been playing for 26 years, but needed to "next level" it. He has diagnosed the areas in which I am lacking , given me the skills/theory I need, and pushed me to be my best. His style of teaching is tailored to the student. I don't think anyone could be better."

"I was a complete beginner when I started taking lessons with Troy. I was definitely nervous about it at the time as no one had really heard my terrible playing before; Troy was easy going and patient and which made for a comfortable and fun learning environment. Troy is incredibly knowledgeable so many styles of playing and theory, he sculpts your lessons around what you want to play and who you love to listen to. No one wants a teacher with a rigid, cookie cutter lesson plan that he applies to every student, playing mary had a little lamb off a piece of sheet music. With Troy I was able to tell him I was curious about theory, scales, or exactly how Jimmy Page played that particular solo and get a lesson on it on the spot. More than anything Troy's a really great guy and friend, he'll never sound condescending when teaching and flat out knows how to make you a better player. I stopped taking lessons when I moved out of MA 5 years ago and he still happily answers any questions I send him. Whatever your skill level I highly recommend lessons with Troy Price."

"As a parent of a student of Troys I would just like to say that there is no better person I know of to teach. The skills, patience and dedication he has for them is beyond belief! My son has been taking lessons from him for over 4 years now and Troy has gone above and beyond all expectations!!! He has helped him with his music auditions for college and many other things not any teacher would do.I have been playing for many years but wanted my son to learn theory and reading like I never did, when my son leaves for college this fall (in a music program that he,s yearned for) I might take his spot with Troy to better myself in my abilities! Thank you Troy you truly are the best!!!"

"Troy got me started on the guitar over 10 years ago. He was able to get me from ZERO experience to being comfortable with a guitar extremely quickly. Most importantly, he had the unique ability to sate to my teenage impulsiveness (to play easy chords to impress girls) - while at the same time laying down the proper foundation for a lifetime of improvement.
While I was only with Troy a short time (about 6-8 months), getting started with him set me on the correct path to avoid a lot of bad habits and really grow as a musician.
Troy is a funny guy and a top notch music instructor."

"If you're looking for guitar lessons for yourself, a friend or a relative, I cannot recommend Troy highly enough. I began taking lessons from Troy in middle school and at the time I was a true novice in all areas of music. Troy not only taught me the technical areas of guitar, he taught me how to be creative and how to appreciate music. I will be attending Berklee college of music next year for Guitar and I have Troy to thank for getting me into the world of music. Troy inspired me to further myself in music as well as life.
If you're looking for a true guitar teacher, mentor and friend. You've come to the right man."

"I have been playing guitar for over 13 years, and have had many so called "teachers", most of which were a waste of time and money. After years of searching for a competent guitar teacher, I was referred to Troy Price through a mutual friend. Lets just say my search ended the day I met Troy. Right off the bat he was personable, grounded, and best of all very knowledgeable. His continuous search for different techniques and styles, and his profound ability to implicate them into his lessons was the main reason I decided to stay with Troy. If you have a question about ANY style of playing, or a question about ANYTHING at all about music, Troy will take it upon himself to become a student of that himself, and then break it down to the basics to find the best way to get that knowledge to you as a student. His continuous hunger for guitar and music is as prominent in him as it is in the students he teaches... which is why i would look no further when thinking about taking lessons. It doesn't matter if you have never touched a guitar before or you are a master shredder, Troy Price will elevate your ability all around."

"I have been working with Troy for the past year with great results. I didn't pick up a guitar until the age of 48 and was nervous about taking lessons. Troy was the ultimate professional who took the time to understand my goals and the types of music I wanted to play.
Troy has a very relaxed style that will put you at ease and make you feel comfortable as you begin your journey into the world of guitars. His knowledge of music and music theory continues to amaze me.
My son took lessons with Troy for 8 years. I watched him progress over the years and was always impressed with the methods that Troy utilized to teach. When my son left for college, I took his lesson time and started with Troy.
If your looking for a world class guitar instructor that can help you reach your musical goals, you will find no one better than Troy Price !!!"

"Troy is a great instructor with tremendous patience. He has a great laid back approach that makes learning to play guitar fun. I always wanted to play but finally began taking lessons five years ago when I was 41. Whether it's playing chords or lead, rock or blues, Troy has the knowledge and skill to get his lesson across."
